Abstract	An attempt was made to formulate for the first time the notion of the legal status of a military prosecutor through the legal status of a citizen and to identify a number of its constituent characteristics. It is noted that due to a proper understanding and definition of the peculiarities of the status of the military prosecutor, real conditions are created for the implementation of the specific powers of this body and the functions of the prosecutor’s office as a whole. It is concluded that improvement of the legal status of this institution will, among other things, also contribute to the solution of problematic issues in the activities of the system of military procuracy bodies and will create conditions for establishing effective organization of the work of its structural units.
